Funeral services for Lawanda Ruth Ophelia (Muse) Kitchens, 86 year-old Weatherford, Oklahoma resident, will be held Friday, January 20, 2017, 2:00 P.M. at the Church of Christ with John Huser and Don Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.
Ophelia was born November 3, 1930, in Blair, Oklahoma to Floyd and Ina (Woods) Muse and passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2017, at the Weatherford Regional Hospital. Ophelia was raised and attended school in Clinton, Oklahoma and graduated from Clinton High School in 1948. On August 15, 1948, she married Richard Kitchens in Clinton. They moved to Martinez, California and raised their children. In 1967, they moved to Weatherford and Ophelia worked as a cook at West Elementary. She was known for her good cooking and she helped serve the men in the fields during harvest. Ophelia enjoyed crocheting, reading her Bible, bowling, and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Weatherford Church of Christ. Memorials may be made to the Church of Christ or to the Food for Kids.
Ophelia is survived by three daughters, Carla Goldmann and husband, Warren, Barbara Jones and husband, Randy, and Tammy Williams all of Weatherford, Oklahoma; one son, Jessie Kitchens and wife, Bonnie of Mansfield, Texas; one brother, Floyd Butch Muse and wife, Betty of Modesto, California; one sister, Omega Watson of Modesto, California; five sisters-in-law, Pam Hartzell and husband, Everett, Jo Ella Tryon all of Weatherford, Oklahoma, Jerri Kitchens of Midland, Texas, Janette Willsie and husband, Carson of Tucson, Arizona, and Carolyn Kitchens of Weatherford, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; five sisters, Helen, Faithie, Mary, Irene, and Denny; and a son-in-law, Tim Williams.
