LaVelle Yvonne Nickels was born November 11, 1931, south of Weatherford to Audry and Marie (Brehm) Amen and passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at Weatherford Regional Hospital, at the age of 89 years, 2 months and 23 days.

LaVelle was raised south of Weatherford and attended school at Missouri Rural School and later Weatherford Public School.  On May 27, 1949, she married Cornelius Elmer Nickels in Caddo County and made their home in Dalhart.  They returned to south of Weatherford in 1952 where they farmed and raised their sons.  LaVelle enjoyed gardening, flowers, church work, Country and Western and Gospel music shows, and spending time with family and friends.  In memory of LaVelle we ask that you plant a flower that comes back every year or a fruit or nut tree.

LaVelle is survived by four sons, Dale Nickels and wife Peggy, Darrel Nickels and wife, Terre, Danny Nickels, and David Nickels and wife, Dana all of Weatherford; two brothers, Don Amen and wife, Raelene of Weatherford and Delbert Amen of Oklahoma City; one sister, Shirley Williams of Sand Springs; twelve grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two brothers, Richard and Larry.
