Ladonna Renee
Shifflett
October 26, 2015
Funeral services for LaDonna Renee Shifflett, 61 year-old Weatherford, Oklahoma resident, will be held Monday, November 2, 2015, 2:00 P.M. at the Church of the First Born in Fay, Oklahoma with Don Jones and Russell Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery, southeast of Fay, Oklahoma, under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home of Weatherford.
LaDonna was born December 29, 1953 in Fay, Oklahoma to Cleo Leon Mike and Nora Aliene (Fiolle) Shifflett and passed away Monday, October 26, 2015, at her home in Weatherford Oklahoma. LaDonna attended Fay and Thomas Public Schools graduating high school in 1972. In December of 1975, she graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University with a B.S. degree. After several years of working in Oklahoma City she returned to western Oklahoma to live. LaDonna was baptized into the Church of The First Born on August 19, 1979. She worked in the Blaine County Farm Service Agency in Watonga, Oklahoma for 18 years and retired from the Canadian County Farm Service Agency after 13 more years where she served as a Program Technician.
Her life was about the joy she brought to her family and friends and the generosity she showed to so many. One of the things she enjoyed was cooking. She would take a unique recipe to family gatherings to add a little culture to their lives. Forget the green bean casserole, LaDonna had something better. The younger kids had a name for LaDonnas dishes. They called it adult food and were frequently hesitant to eat anything new but LaDonna never quit trying. LaDonna also liked to travel. You never knew where the next adventure would take her but you could be certain that with LaDonna, it would be fun. She loved tropical climates, beaches and cruises and wasnt afraid to try parasailing, snorkeling or scuba diving. Foreign delicacies didnt scare her either, although sometimes this didnt work out in her favor. She loved everything about traveling but the thing she loved the most about her trips was making memories with her friends and family. Over the past few months during her illness she would tell her family, just remember the good times, the memories we made. LaDonna did make many wonderful memories with so many people but the thing she would want to be remembered for the most is her faith in God. She endured trials and overcame obstacles but followed the path God set before her. Timothy 4:7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.
LaDonna is survived by her sisters, Karen Grote of Watonga, Oklahoma, Moreta Dodd of Weatherford, Oklahoma, and Nova Montgomery of Fairview, Oklahoma; brothers, Monte Shifflett of Lewisburg ,Kentucky and Kyle Shifflett of Stillwater, Oklahoma; nieces, Michelle Smith, Stephanie Petty, Stashia Wilcoxson, Ashley Montgomery, Nichole Brown, and Amanda Slaton; nephews, Andrew Montgomery and Brandon White; great nieces are Bridget Blood, Mika Howard, Bailey Howard, Sydni Ross , Kinley Durbin, and Caroline White; great nephews, Mason and Jackson Smith, Ashton Ross, and Harris Montgomery.
