September 10, 1937 – October 23, 2022
Keren Payne Miller was born to Carl and Maurene (Miller) Payne, September 10, 1937 at their farm home east of Thomas, OK.
At the age of 11, Keren accepted Christ as her personal Savior and followed in baptism. She joined the Thomas First Baptist Church and has been an active life-long member.
She attended Thomas Public Schools, graduating as Salutatorian in 1955. Keren obtained her Bachelor's & Master's degrees from SWOSU at Weatherford. Her Doctorate was received from Oklahoma State University at Stillwater, OK.
In 1969, she was married to Marvin J. Miller. Making their home with them were his two sons, Doug & Rusty, and later joined by 3 rd son, Richard.
Keren started her teaching career in Vocational Home Economics at Canton, then Custer City and later Clinton High Schools. She then spent the next 28 years teaching Home Economics at SWOSU in Weatherford, retiring in 1994.
Keren loved the Lord, her family, friends, students & the many pets in her life, especially Blackie, the Tuxedo Cat. Curently, she was caretaker for her beloved cat Rusty. She has been active in Kappa Kappa Iota and enjoyed the associations with-in the organization.
Preceding her in death were her parents, one infant brother, Charles Cliffton Payne, husband and step-son Rusty Miller.
Survivors include her brother, Rex Payne & wife Betty of Thomas, niece Candy Taylor & husband Mike from Custer City, nephew Rick Payne & wife Jennifer of Thomas, 2 step sons, Doug Miller & wife Debbie of Bartlesville, and Richard Miller & wife, Gina of Thomas. Also, 3 great nieces, Mindy Davis & husband Brandon, and Claire and Grace Payne, five great nephews, Mikey Taylor, Parker, Preston, Carson and Griffin Payne. Six step grand children, Dacia, Douglas, Daniel, & Dan and Kayla & Hope and a host of other great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
