Kenneth Melvin Cox was born October 31, 1924 in Jenks, Oklahoma to Franklin and Josie (Cates) Cox and passed away Monday, July 2, 2012 at Sommerset Assisted Living in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 87 years, 8 months, and 1 day.
Kenneth was raised and attended school in Oklahoma City and graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1942. After graduating, he served in the Coast Guard for three years during World War II. On February 6, 1948, he married Evelyn Hunnicutt in Oklahoma City where they made their home. Kenneth worked as an Industrial Engineer for Tinker Air Force Base for over 30 years before retiring in 1979. He enjoyed his family, his church activities, and fishing for crappie. Memorials may be made to the Hillcrest Presbyterian Church.
Kenneth is survived by two daughters, Mary Cox and Janet Furr and husband, Cecil all of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two sons, Paul Cox and wife, Laura of Little Rock, Arkansas and David Cox and wife, Denise of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; five brothers, George, Walter, John, Russell, and Lloyd; and one granddaughter, Abby Cox.
