Katherine Merle
L Kimble
November 14, 2016
Funeral services for Katherine Merle L. (Duncan) Kimble, 98 year-old Hydro, Oklahoma resident, will be held Thursday, November 17, 2016, 2:00 P.M. in the First Baptist Church of Hydro. Burial will follow in Hydro Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.
Katherine was born in Weatherford, Texas on June 17, 1918, to John Edward and Willie Trumor (Masterson) Duncan and passed away on Monday, November 14, 2016, at Maple Lawn Manor in Hydro, Oklahoma. Katherine attended Fost and Lone Star rural schools, and the eighth grade in Hydro. She lived in Hydro but graduated from Hinton High School because Hinton had a school bus to cover the rural areas and Hydro did not. Katherine worked for various grocery stores in Hydro as a young girl and later sold Avon for 27 years.
Katherine married Floyd Eugene Kimble on a country road on the Caddo/Custer county line near Hydro on September 2, 1938. Their favorite minister stood on the Custer County side of the line and Floyd and Katherine stood on the Caddo County side of the line since their license was from Caddo County and the minister could only perform marriage ceremonies in Custer County.
Katherines hobbies were bowling, raising flowers and handwork. She made a special baby quilt and crocheted afghan for each grandchild. Katherine enjoyed many years of traveling with her favorite traveling companions, Floyd and Marzelle. She loved watching OU and OSU sports events, but the Thunder team was her favorite. Katherine was a member of the First Baptist Church and kept attendance records for the Sunday school for over 50 years. Memorials may be made to the Hydro First Baptist Church or Hydro First Responders.
Katherine is survived by her daughter, Darlene Kim Robertson of Hydro; her two sons, Jimmie Kimble and his wife, Donna of Hydro and Phil Kimble and his wife, Trudi of Weatherford; her grandchildren, Kellie and Mark Leathers, Shalee and Mike Powers, John and Stacy Robertson, Brent and Tara Kimble, Holly and Junior Pitt, Luke and Christy Kimble, Sarah and John Slagell, and Vickie Clark; her great-grandchildren, Blake, Chelsey and Brandon Powers, Skyler Leathers and fiance, Garrett Jones, Kassidy Leathers, Bill and Baron Robertson, Brody, Bryce and Bayler Slagell, Avery and Rilynn Kimble, Ryan and Aiden Kimble; and one great-great-granddaughter, Chloe Grace Powers. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Raymond Duncan; one sister, Marzelle Duncan Kimble; and one son-in-law, Bill Robertson.
