Juanita Jane
Holladay
July 13, 1928 – April 4, 2020
Juanita Jane Holladay was born July 13, 1928, to Jackson Alexander (Jack) Williams and Mary Jane Brooks in Colony and passed away April 4, 2020, at Corn Heritage Village in Weatherford, at the age of 91 years, 8 months and 21 days.
Juanita was raised in Colony, where she attended school. Her parents were farmers of the land and raised cattle. She married Otis Ralph DeMotte on January 29, 1944. They had two children, Barbara Ann and Jeanne Marie. Otis and Juanita ran the Tech and Sure-Way grocery stores. He also was involved at many grocery stores in Hydro and Weatherford. Otis passed away and Juanita managed the stores until she married George Azzole and sold the stores before moving to California. They had a son, Daniel George Azzole. They later moved to New Jersey for a short time, before moving back to Weatherford. She worked for Farm Bureau in Clinton. After a couple of years, she moved to Florida and worked for American Cyanamid. She wanted to complete her education, so Juanita went back to school at Pensacola Junior College and the University of West Florida. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in Education. She taught in the special education department for 30 years. She moved back to Weatherford five years ago. Juanita loved to sew, do arts and crafts, bowl, swim, golf, play bridge, sing and help her church members. She definitely was a woman who loved others.
