Funeral services for Joyce Maxine Short, 86 year-old Weatherford, Oklahoma resident, will be held Thursday, October 2, 2014, 2:00 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Lynn Brack officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.

Joyce was born November 22, 1927, in Weatherford, Oklahoma to Floyd Alfred and Frances Ellen (Bast) Ayres and passed away Monday, September 29, 2014, at Deaconess Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Joyce was raised and attended school in Weatherford and graduated from Weatherford High School in 1945. On August 26, 1945, she married Eddie Short in Weatherford, Oklahoma and made their home. Joyce enjoyed crocheting, playing cards with her Bridge Club, her church group, Sorosis Club, painting, and spending time with her family.

Joyce is survived by one son, Jeff (Kim) Short of Weatherford, Oklahoma; four daughters, Edene (Charles) Riggs of Denton, Texas, Diane (Coy) Miller of Frisco, Texas, Jo Monigold of Lawton, Oklahoma, and Jennifer (Robert) Pierce of Enid, Oklahoma; fourteen grandchildren, Chris (Sarah) Riggs of Denton, Texas, Clay (Caryn) Riggs of Denton, Texas, Rocky (Sarah) Freeman of Aubrey, Texas, Tammy (Wade) Morgan of Pilot Point, Texas, Matt (Allison) Monigold of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Megan (Robert) Richardson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Marty (Leah) Monigold Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Allison (Trent) Charles of Enid, Oklahoma, Amy (Kyle) Willard of Enid, Oklahoma, Aaron Pierce of Enid, Oklahoma, Kelley (Kyle) Yoder of Weatherford, Oklahoma, Tiffany Short of Weatherford, Oklahoma, Stephen Short of Weatherford, Oklahoma, and Sarah Short of Weatherford, Oklahoma; and twenty great-grandchildren, Taylor, Kenzie, Madison, and Grayson Riggs, J.W., Hud, Dack Morgan, Haven, Grayson, Callie, Joshua, Caleb, and Jackson Freeman, Alex and Abby Richardson, Aiden, Faith, and Joanna Monigold, Paityn Willard, and Kylynne Yoder. She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Frances Ayres and her husband, Eddie Short.
