Obituary

Joquetta Ramsey, of Weatherford, OK, passed away on September 13, 2023, in Stillwater, OK, at the age of 92 years, 1 month and 13 days.  She leaves a legacy as a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend.

Joquetta was born at home on July 30, 1931, to Zula and James Goza in Alden, OK, and was raised in the Oney area.  Early in life, Joquetta attended a one room schoolhouse in Willow Creek, OK.  She later graduated from Oney High School, where she played basketball.

On May 7, 1949, Joquetta married Bob Ramsey and they raised their family in Weatherford, OK.  They were blessed with three children, Rita Jo, Deloras Jean and James Alan.

In addition to raising her family, Joquetta was active in her community.  She was employed by 3M for 20 years, and enjoyed volunteering at the Weatherford hospital for many years.  Later in life she enjoyed socializing at the Pioneer Center in Weatherford.  She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Weatherford, OK.  Her faith was an important part of her life and brought her comfort.

Throughout the years, she enjoyed hosting and cooking for large family gatherings, and was famous for her peanut brittle, fudge and fried chicken.  Joquetta maintained an independent and active lifestyle up until the very end of her life.

Joquetta was preceded in death by her parents, James Edward & Zula Ethel (Scales)Goza; brothers, Carl Goza and James Goza; sisters, Catherine Lenora Goza and Rubye (Goza) Hodges; husband, Bobby James Ramsey; daughter, Deloras Jean (Ramsey)Page-Bridwell, and son-in-law, Richard Edward Baumgartner.

Joquetta leaves precious memories with those who survive her: brothers, Donald Goza and his wife Marie of San Antonio, TX and Tom Goza and his wife Jo of Mustang, OK; her daughter, Rita Jo (Ramsey) Baumgartner of Stillwater, OK; son, James Alan Ramsey and his wife Sharon of Edgewood, MD; granddaughter, JoDe (Page) Goss and her husband Rick of Frisco, TX; granddaughter, April (Baumgartner) Snethen and her husband Todd of Stillwater, OK; granddaughter, Jennifer (Page) Quinn of Park Ridge, IL and her husband Matt; grandson, Scott Baumgartner and his wife Casey of Mannford, OK; grandson, Charlie Page and his wife Brianna of Olathe, KS, thirteen great-grandchildren and a multitude of extended family, friends, and loved ones.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Emmanuel Baptist Church in Weatherford, OK.
