Jonathan "Jon" Ray Avant was born December 27, 1955, in Sentinel, Oklahoma, to Floyd and Roberta Jane (Clay) Avant and passed away, Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at his home in Corn, Oklahoma, at the age of 62 years, 8 months, and 1 day.

Jon was raised in Corn and Altus, Oklahoma. He began school at Washita Heights and later in Altus where he graduated from Altus High School in 1974. Jon enjoyed collecting and polishing rocks, cooking, playing with his dogs, spending time with family and friends. He will be remembered as an avid gardener and a caregiver for his family: grandparents, aunt and uncle, in their later years; and as a great grandson and nephew. Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.

Jon is survived by his father, Floyd Avant of Altus, Oklahoma; one brother, Rodney Avant and wife, Vicki of Altus, Oklahoma; one sister, Paula Bemis and husband, Jeff of Anchorage, Alaska; one nephew, Jeremy Avant of Sacramento, California; and one niece, Jacey Avant of Dallas, Texas. He was preceded in death by his mother, Roberta; grandparents, Robert and Pauline Clay and Homer and Anna Avants.
