Graveside services for John Phillip Page, 77 year-old Colony, Oklahoma resident, will be held Tuesday, September 20, 2016, 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Truman Smith officiating. Services are under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.
Phil was born on November 18, 1938, to Curtis Eugene and Edith Pearl (Bailey) Page in Carnegie, OK and passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2016, in Weatherford, OK. Phils father farmed and his mother taught school. At the age of two, Phil came down with pneumonia and Dr. Sullivan, his dads half-brother, was instrumental in helping him survive the illness. At the age of 5, he started first grade at Eakly Elementary School because his mother, Pearl, was the First Grade teacher and she didnt have a baby sitter. He said he had a set of books at school, and at home! He was saved at the age of 14 in the Eakly Methodist Church. He was a hind catcher on the high school baseball team and graduated at 17 years-old in 1956.
Phil entered the Air Force for four years. Afterwards, he obtained an associate degree from OSU and went to work for Sperry Sun and moved to Houston, TX with his new bride Esther Marie (Beall) Page of Alfalfa, OK. After a short stay in Houston, Phil and Esther transferred back to Bethany, OK and stayed there with their two children, John and Lisa, until 1970 when they moved back to the family farm. Phil loved his family and in the later years, he especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His great-granddaughter, Ava, was born on his birthday to his delight. Phil and Esther farmed and custom baled hay. Phil liked antique tractors and watched the morning farm show to see what tractor would be showcased at the end of the broadcast. He was proud that the Page farm would be a hundred years old in 2019.
Phil is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Nelson Hooker of Duncan, OK. He is survived by his wife, Esther of 54 years; one brother, Ray Page of New Mexico; one sister, Sue Jackson and her husband Ken of Stillwater, OK; one son, John Page and wife Jennifer of Weatherford, OK; one daughter, Lisa Seibold and husband Bo of Weatherford, OK; six granddaughters, Nicole Thurman and husband Matt of Gotebo, OK, Megan Mills and husband Brandon of Gotebo, OK, Tosha Redd and husband Jason of Elk city, OK, Jessica Clayton of Weatherford, OK, Cheyenne Johnson and Jayla Johnson of Bethany, OK; two grandsons, Austin Seibold and wife Callie of Weatherford, OK, James Clayton and wife Kristy of Weatherford, OK; six great-granddaughters, Kyley, Miley, Ava, Cody, Ellie, and Norah; four great-grandsons, Jace, Chandler, Jack, and Wyatt.
A special thanks to all the physicians who helped Phil along the way to have a few more years with us and especially to the Oklahoma Heart Hospital and all the staff. In closing- What a nice man to get to work with for 45 years. JP
