Funeral services for John Paul Dougherty, 55 year-old Lawton, Oklahoma resident, will be held 2:00 pm, Friday, March 31, 2017, at the First United Methodist Church in Hydro, Oklahoma with Ted Uhlig officiating. Arrangements are by Lockstone Funeral Home in Weatherford, Oklahoma.

John was born to Beatrice Dougherty on June 26, 1961, in West Plains, Missouri and passed away Monday, March 27, 2017, at Gregstons Nursing Center in Marlow, Oklahoma. John went to school and graduated in Gainsville, Missouri. He married Michelle (Unruh) Dougherty on April 8, 1983, in Hydro, Oklahoma. John worked in the oil field, at Goodyear, and in construction. He and Michelle were foster parents for 26 years to hundreds of children since 1984, which led to them adopting their daughters, Briann and Miranda. John liked to camp, hunt, fish, garden, and spending quality time with family and friends.

John is survived by his daughters, Briann and Miranda of their home in Lawton, Oklahoma; a brother, Jim Dougherty and his wife, Darlene of Mountain Home, Arkansas; mother-in-law, Betty Unruh of Hydro, Oklahoma; two brothers-in-law, Mike Unruh and wife, Rachel of Elk City, Oklahoma and Marlin Unruh and wife, Lisa of Hydro, Oklahoma; and lots of extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Michelle Dougherty; his mom, Beatrice Dougherty; brother, Tim Dougherty; sister, Laura Dougherty; and father-in-law, Nelson Unruh.

He will be greatly missed by all.
