Obituary

Funeral: 10:00 AM Saturday, March 23rd, 2013Church of Christ

Funeral services for Jimmie Cecil McPhearson, 80 year-old Weatherford, Oklahoma resident, will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at the Church of Christ with Bruce Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.

Jimmie was born November 14, 1932, south of Weatherford, Oklahoma to William Willie Cicero and Oleta Fern (Pigg) McPhearson and passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at Weatherford Regional Hospital. Soon after his birth, Oleta and Willie parted company, and in about 1935 she married Francis Rodney Bud Readnour. Jimmie was raised in Weatherford and attended Missouri School and graduated from Weatherford High School in 1951. In the summer of 1953, he earned a double major in education and industrial arts from Southwestern State College. After graduation he taught shop and math at Foss Schools. On November 14, 1954, Jimmie married Vonda Lou Ruckman and they made their home in Weatherford. They later moved to California for 13 years before returning to Weatherford in 1967. Jimmie owned and operated McPhearson Honda Sales for 28 years, farmed, was a real estate broker, and was an auctioneer. He was a charter member of the Weatherford Industrial Board and had served on the Weatherford City Council as well as on the board of directors for the Chamber of Commerce. Jimmie was founder of the Agape Food Bank and has served as Chairman of the Weatherford Church of Christ Benevolence Committee for 15 years. Jimmie enjoyed being with family and friends, his church, auctioneering, he played the guitar, wrote poetry, and liked Bluegrass music. Memorials may be made to the Church of Christ Building Fund.

Jimmie is survived by his wife of 58 years, Vonda McPhearson of their home in Weatherford, Oklahoma; two sons, Rodney McPhearson and wife, Angela of Skiatook, Oklahoma and Ricky McPhearson and wife, Tracee of Weatherford, Oklahoma; one daughter, Radonna Sawatzky and husband, Terry of Weatherford, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Rachel Annie McPhearson, Michael Foster, Michelle Edwards, Karen Elizabeth McPhearson, Joseph Andrew McPhearson, Taler Janae Sawatzky and Tucker Ryan Sawatzky; and three great-grandchildren, Amy, Nathan, and Stephanie Edwards. He was preceded in death by his parents and step-father.
