Jewell Lorene Crissman was born February 27, 1923, in Alfalfa to Carl Turner and Elzie (Hicks) Kenedy and passed away Monday, February 24, 2020, at Weatherwood Assisted Living in Weatherford, at the age of 96 years, 11 months, and 24 days.
Jewell was raised and attended school in Eakly, graduating with the Class of 1940, where she was the Yell Leader. On November 23, 1940, she married O.B. Crissman in Eakly and they made their home in rural Eakly where they raised their family. Jewell worked alongside her husband raising cotton, peanuts, and wheat. She also served as Caddo County Association WMU Director for several years. Jewell and O.B. were members of Pleasant Valley Church and she served as treasurer. Jewell moved to Hydro in 1986 and attended the First Baptist Church of Hydro. Mission work was her passion especially her trips to Glorieta, New Mexico. Jewell enjoyed gardening, being involved in her church, going to the children and grandchildren's activities, and was a Thunder fan. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Hydro.
Jewell is survived by two sons, Wayne Crissman and wife, Joan of Hydro, Earl Crissman and wife, Nancy of Weatherford; two daughters, Fay Nowka of Hydro and Teresa Johnson and husband, Dewey of Hydro. She is also survived by one brother, Burl Kenedy and wife, Louise of Weatherford; eleven grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter and one due in May. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, O.B.; one brother, Gerald; and one granddaughter, Megan Gieser.
