Funeral services for Jessie Irene (Hardin) Rhoads, 93 year-old Weatherford, Oklahoma resident, were held on Monday, January 25, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Zion Church with Pastor Ron Thiessen and Huston Veal officiating. Burial followed in Poage Cemetery, southeast of Weatherford, under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.
Jessie went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 23, 2016.
Jessie I. Rhoads was born April 7, 1922 to George and Susan (Carter) Hardin on the farm southeast of Weatherford. She lived her entire life in the Weatherford and Colony area.
She attended the Hardin and Normal View rural schools southeast of Weatherford. She graduated high school at Weatherford High School.
Jessie married Delmar Rhoads. They lived on their farm north of Colony putting their four children through the Colony Schools.
Jessie and Delmar Moved into Weatherford in 1971. She worked for Fox Photo, retiring in 1986.
She did volunteer work delivering Meals on Wheels, food pantry, and at church. She was a caregiver to family members and friends. She made wonderful meals and delivered them to many family members and friends.
She was a member of the Fairview Community Church and was active in Zion Church since moving to Weatherford.
She was preceded in death by her husband Delmar and one daughter Betty Sue Pitt. Also her parents and brothers Herbert and Robert Hardin and sister Jewell Campbell.
Jessie is survived by three children, Danny Rhoads (Sandy), Donita Helm (Don), Judy Brooks (Marvin); son-in-law, Leroy Pitt; eight grandchildren, Shauna Rhoads, Linda Brinkley, Amy Rubin, Sandra Duff, April Troxel, Dustin Brooks, Christy Sterba, and Dusty Rhoads; twelve great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Jessie was happiest when she had her family with her. Especially enjoying all the picnics the Rhoads family had. There were lots of nieces and nephews all running around, laughing and of course eating. The Hardin side was smaller. She was fortunate to have Roger Campbell and Danny & Delores Campbell Davis close by. She spent lots of fun times with their families. She was always happy to see all her kids. She was Aunt Jessie and Grandma Jessie to so many that were not even related and she loved them all.
Memorials may be made to Weatherford Food Pantry, Zion Church in Weatherford or a worthy charity of your choice.
