Obituary

Jessie Floriece "Flo" Huffman, was born on May 19, 1922, in Ringgold, Texas to John M. and Rosa Millie (Cary) Peveler and passed away on July 28, 2019 at Corn Heritage Village in Weatherford, Oklahoma, at the age of 97 years, 2 months, and 9 days.

Flo graduated from Carter High School with the class of 1940 and went on to earn a Business Associate Certificate. After finishing up with her schooling she and a girlfriend moved to California to find a job. Flo became the secretary for the Civil Service. While she was in California she met T. E. (Woody) Huffman and on September 24, 1945 they married in Berkley, California. At the time he was stationed in San Francisco with the Coast Guard. After moving around with the service they ended up in Fort Worth, Texas where they had a son, Robert Keith Huffman, on June 14, 1947. During this time she became a stay at home mom and enjoyed watching all of Keith's sports activities. After raising Keith they moved to Sayre, Oklahoma where Flo began working at the courthouse. After Woody's sudden death Flo moved to Weatherford to be closer to her family. She started working as a Library Aid at West Elementary until she retired. She loved working with the students and would have some funny stories to share.

Flo enjoyed going to watch Keith's games, reading, sewing, traveling, rearranging furniture, and watching her favorite TV show "The Lawrence Welk Show." Some of her funny and favorite times were spent with her sister, Bonnie Roles-Sunderland. Many times they were asked if they were twins and with a few giggles they would answer no. Where you saw one of the sisters the other was sure to follow right behind.

Flo is survived by her daughter-in-law Bonnie Huffman; one grandson, Tyler Huffman of Ardmore, OK; one great-granddaughter Cheyenne Huffman of Bridgeport, TX; one nephew, Dan Roles and his wife Brenda, of San Antonio, TX; one niece, Sue Roles of Weatherford, OK and many other great-nieces and nephews.
Flo is preceded in death by her parents; John and Rosa; husband, Woody; son, Keith; four sisters, Mamie, Pearl, Goldie, and Bonnie; and one brother Leonard.

Memorials can be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church.
