Jerry was born to Beulah Catherine (Hawkins) Buster on July 11, 1946 in Elk City, OK and passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2015 at home in Thomas, OK having reached the age of 69 years 1 month and 19 days.
Jerry was raised and attended school in Elk City and graduated in 1964. After graduating high school he volunteered for the Army, where he was a helicopter mechanic in Viet Nam. After his return to the states some very dear friends encouraged him to attend college. So he attended college at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford where he graduated with honors. During college Jerry married Cecilia Ann Yarbrough of Elk City. On June 5th they celebrated 47 years together living in Weatherford and the Thomas area. During this time they own and operated the Pizza Hut, Farmers Branch Restaurant, and J & C Enterprises Aviation Inc. from 1970 till the present time.
Jerry was very active in the community; he served on the City Council 1982-1983, and then served as mayor from 1983-1985. Jerry and Cecilia loved the youth of Thomas by opening their home for 10 years for Bible study and lunch every Thursday. Many kids have been helped and loved by the Busters though out the years. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, traveling and working. Jerrys favorite trip was seeing the Holy Land where he was baptized in the Jordon River.
Jerry was very involved with the First Baptist Church of Thomas, Promise Keepers, Gideons, National Agriculture Aviation Association, Oklahoma Agriculture Aviation, NRA, AOPA and a very proud American.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Cecilia of Thomas, OK; and his children, Chris and Jenny Buster of Carnegie, OK and Grant and Charity Kohout of Thomas, OK; four grandchildren, Tate, Vade, Carrington, and Remington; one brother, Don and Diane Buster of Albuquerque, NM; and a host of friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his mother, Beulah Catherine Buster.
