Memorial: 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 11th, 2013"The Chapel" of Lockstone Funeral Home

Memorial services for Janet Kay Jan (Burns) Swinney, 66 year-old Weatherford, Oklahoma resident, will be held Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. in The Chapel of Lockstone Funeral Home with Dennis King officiating.

Jan was born February 3, 1947 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Dennis F. and Hazel E. (Brannon) Burns and passed away Thursday, September 5, 2013 at her home in Weatherford, Oklahoma. Jan was raised and attended school in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and graduated from U.S. Grant High School in 1965. She was baptized at the age of 12 and was very active in the Reorganized Latter Day Saint Church in south Oklahoma City. She attended South Oklahoma City Junior College where she earned an Operating Room Technician/Scrub Tech Degree. While in Oklahoma City she taught Sunday school, and was active in the youth group. On May 12, 1967, Jan married Robert L. Bob Swinney in Oklahoma City. They moved to Weatherford, Oklahoma in 1978. Jan worked at Southwestern Memorial Hospital for 8 years, Dr. Aarons office, and was office manager for W-W Manufacturing for 3 years. Jan loved being a Master Gardener and loved her many Master Gardener friends. She was devoted to her family and friends. Jan loved gardening and being outside with nature and her pets, and decorating cakes for family and friends. Jan was blessed with a wonderful life, a loving devoted husband, and fantastic wonderful children and grandchildren. Memorials contributions may be made to the Faith Hospice or American Cancer Society.

Jan is survived by her husband of 46 years, Bob and her daughter dog, Gracie of their home in Weatherford, Oklahoma; two daughters, Lorna D. Hudson and husband, Jim of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Robin K. Brian and husband, David of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one son, Russell R. Swinney and wife, Kimberley of Weatherford, Oklahoma; mother, Hazel Lane of Salina, Kansas; two sisters, Brenda J. Catozzi and husband, Rich of Val Rico, Florida and Sharon Denise Buettner of Salina, Kansas; and three grandchildren, Zane David Brian, Ivy Elise Brian and James Robert J.R. Hudson. She was preceded in death by her father, Dennis Burns; son, Bruce Allen Swinney; and step-father, Don Lane.
