Funeral services for Janet Marie Copus, 70 year-old Eakly, Oklahoma resident, will be held Thursday, October 10, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church in Weatherford, Oklahoma with Earl Stephenson officiating. Burial will follow in Carnegie Cemetery in Carnegie, Oklahoma under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home of Weatherford.

Janet was born December 19, 1942 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Otto and Clora (Baubletts) Hicks and passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Janet was raised and attended school in Mountain View, Oklahoma and graduated from Mountain View High School in 1960. She attended Oklahoma State University and later received an Associate Degree from Southwestern State College. On September 1, 1962, Janet married Virgil Allan Copus in Mountain View and returned back to Stillwater for 10 years. They moved to Canute where she helped out in the public schools, worked at a bank as a receptionist in Elk City and moved to Eakly in 1977. She worked for Sawatzky Construction, Dr. Lawrence, and Dr. Dixon. Janet enjoyed being with her family and grandchildren; watching OSU sports; shopping; cooking; and going to the grandchildren activities. Janet is survived by her husband of 51 years, Allan Copus of their home in Eakly, Oklahoma; one son, Mark Copus and wife, Pam of Burkburnett, Texas; one daughter, Jennifer Jill Copus of Edmond, Oklahoma; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
