Funeral services for Susie Jane McCrite, 92 year-old Weatherford resident, will be held Friday, December 23, 2022, 10:00 A.M. in The Chapel at First United Methodist Church with Chuck Horton officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.
Jane McCrite was born July 11, 1930, on a farm north of Weatherford, the seventh of eight children born to Robert Lee and Myrtle May (Branson) Wilson. She passed on to her eternal reward on December 18, 2022, in Weatherford.
Jane attended Cottonwood School through the 8th grade and started 9th grade in Weatherford before moving to Enid, OK where she completed the 10 th grade.
Jane married John J McCrite on July 27, 1946, and to this union was born three sons, Jerry, Michael and Mickey. John passed away in September 1992. John and Jane started their first home living in a bedroom at John's brother's home. They moved to Pampa, TX where John worked on a gas pipeline for six months before moving back to Enid, OK.
They moved to Hotchkiss, CO in 1954 living on a small acreage which they felt was a great place to raise their boys. After work opportunities in CO dried up, they moved to Gallup, NM in 1965. Later they moved to Ogden, UT in 1972 and returned to Weatherford, OK in 1978. Jane worked in various accounting positions for 30 years and then as a secretary at 3M for 15 years, retiring in 1993.
Jane's hobbies included gardening, square dancing, crochet and her favorite was crewel embroidery and cross stitch. She served as a Cub Scout Mother when the boys were involved in scouting. Jane was a member of the OES and served as Worthy Matron nine times.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brothers, Ivan, Claude and Zack, sisters, Bessie, Dorothy, Genevieve and Vernell, her son, Jerry and grandson, Jonathan.
Jane is survived by two sons, Michael and Mickey, one daughter-in-law, Diane, grandchildren, Jason, Kathryn, Rhett, and Sarah, and great-grandchildren Bryson, Megan, Billy, Madeline, Marli, Ryan, Acre and Addison, one great-great-granddaughter, Ava, one brother-in-law, DJ Snider and many nieces and nephews
