James Cecil Palmer was born March 19, 1927, in Seminole County, Oklahoma to William David and Mary Ada (Wilson) Palmer and passed away Friday, November 2, 2018, at Maple Lawn Manor in Hydro, Oklahoma, at the age of 91 years, 7 months, and 13 days.
James was raised and attended school in Maud, Oklahoma. He enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving for 3 years. James married Grace Marie Carter April 6, 1950 in Clovis, New Mexico. He returned to Chicago and settled in Hydro in 1955. James had a welding shop in Hydro until 1970 when he worked for the Oklahoma State Highway Department and later farm laborer. James raised quarter horses, and he loved going to play day rodeos, riding horses, and playing dominos any chance he got. Memorials may be made to the Hydro First Responders.
James is survived by one son, Roy Palmer of Hydro, Oklahoma; three sisters, Earlene Ammons of Crescent, Oklahoma, Jean Laney of Clarendon, Texas, and Virginia Manwell of Houston, Texas; four grandsons; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two brothers, Jr. and Arnold; one sister, Wilma; one son, Clint; and two daughters, Mary Beth and Linda.
