Bernard Heger
July 14, 1931 – June 25, 2019
James (Jim) Bernard Heger was born July 14, 1931, in Hydro, Oklahoma to Lawrence and Bertha (Kappus) Heger and passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2019, at Weatherford Regional Hospital 87 years, 11 months and 11 days.
Jim was raised south of Hydro and attended the rural school and later went to Hydro Public Schools. On July 13, 1954, he married LaVeta Friesen in Wellington, Texas and made their home south of Hydro. Jim farmed and ranched on the family farm and had worked for Caddo County. Jim enjoyed dancing, traveling, and spending time with his sons and their families. Jim loved mechanics and could literally fix anything. He was sharing his knowledge and teaching life lessons to his children and grandchildren even when he didn't know it. Jim loved reminiscing and sharing stories about the good ole days with his family. He was a loving Papa who couldn't wait to hold any of his grandchildren. He was the last surviving of eight children. Memorials may be made to the Oklahoma Memorial Research Foundation – Alzheimer's Research.
Jim is survived by his wife of 64 years, LaVeta Heger of their home in Hydro, OK; three sons, Larry Heger and Vicky of Weatherford, OK, Randy Heger and Kristy of El Reno, Oklahoma, and Jamey Heger of Hydro, OK; eleven grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Joe, Bob, Ed, and Don; three sisters, Betty, Patricia, and Marjorie; and one son, Kevin Heger and one daughter-in-law, Barbara Heger.
