Jack J
Sauer
September 16, 2016
Reverend Jack Sauer
Funeral Services will be held for Jack J. Sauer, 86, of Weatherford at 10:00 am Monday, September 19 at the Grace Assembly of God Church.
Reverend Sauer died Friday, September 16 at the Weatherford Regional Hospital following a short illness.
Jack J. Sauer was born January 28, 1930 to Fred and Clara (Hoersch) Sauer. Jack was born on the family farm west of Weatherford. Fred passed away when Jack was only 13 years old, so Clara sold all of the large farm equipment and Jack and his brothers began to run the farm. Jack attended Weatherford High School.
Jack married the love of his life, Berdine Conder, on July 31, 1949, and they made their first home in Weatherford.
Shortly after his marriage to Berdine, Jack was saved by grace and began to follow the Lords plan for his life. He became an ordained minister in 1958, and then followed his calling to the Southwest Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, graduating with a degree in Theology in May of 1963 and a degree in Religious Education in January 1965.
Jack pastored churches in Oklahoma, Texas and Ohio. He always had a passion for teaching the gospel, and became an author of many books in his retirement years, with his wife Berdine ever the faithful editor and typist.
At an early age, Jack became very interested in flying, and that keen interest was something that he enjoyed for many years, owning several planes, becoming a certified flight instructor, and teaching many students over the years. Jacks logbook attests to an amazing 6470 flight hours, sharing his last flight with David Tautfest in 2009.
Jack loved to spend time with his family, spending many hours at the lake waterskiing and in later years with his grandchildren fishing, boating, and camping.
Jack was proceeded in death by his wife Berdine, his parents, Fred and Clara Sauer, and his brother Robert Sauer.
Jack is survived by his children, a daughter, Trica Sauer Graft and her husband C.B of Clinton, two sons, J.D. Sauer and his wife Debbie of Dallas, TX, and Aaron Sauer and his wife Melinda of Weatherford; seven grandchildren, April Sauer Bryden, Brian Sauer, Brendon Graft, Channing Graft, Aaron Graft, Chaille Graft Walraven and Jordan Graft; sixteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, sister-in-law Lorene Sauer of Weatherford, his brother Eldean and wife Dorothy of Bethany.
Services will be officiated by Aaron Graft, Internment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.
