Funeral services for J.D. Barnes, 86 year-old Colony, Oklahoma resident, will be held Monday, July 16, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. in the Colony Baptist Church with Bro. Ken Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in Highpoint Cemetery under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.

J.D. was born May 24, 1926 in Colony, Oklahoma to Stewart and Mary Olive (Gyles52) Barnes and passed away Thursday, July 12, 2012 in Corn Heritage of Weatherford, Oklahoma. J.D. was raised and attended school at Mound Valley north of Colony and worked on their family farm. On March 9, 1946, he married Gwendola Dunn and made their home north of Colony, Oklahoma where he farmed with his family. J.D. was a pastor for 9 years in the area, did carpentry work and later went back into farming. He enjoyed his family, fishing, and hunting.

J.D. is survived by his wife of 66 years, Gwendola Barnes of their home in Colony, Oklahoma; two daughters, Sharon Waldrup and husband, Larry of Colony, Oklahoma and Pamela Page of Weatherford, Oklahoma; two brothers, Mack Barnes and wife, Sharon of Colony, Oklahoma and Rex Barnes and wife, Linda of Texas; three sisters, Cinda Rice and husband, Buster of Clinton, Oklahoma, Norma Tate of Seminole, Oklahoma, and Dixie Hanes and husband, George of Eakly, Oklahoma; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Melvin; and three sisters, Goldie, Thelma, and Melissa.
