Memorial services for Homer Francis Timmons, 85 year-old Weatherford, Oklahoma resident, will be held Friday, February 15, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. in the Federated Church with Rick Connelly, David Ralph, and Ben French officiating, under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.

Homer was born December 28, 1927 in Mangum, Oklahoma to Homer Grady and Bessie (Francis) Timmons and passed away Monday, February 11, 2013 at Corn Heritage of Weatherford. Homer was raised and attended school in Mangum, Oklahoma and graduated from Centralvue High School. He received his Bachelor degree from OSU and received his Masters and PhD from OU. In 1956, he joined the staff at SWOSU as an instructor in the Department of Biological Sciences. After serving two years as a National Science Foundation Fellow in the College of Medicine at the University of Oklahoma, he returned to SWOSU where he remained until his retirement in 1994. Homer was a founding member of the Southwestern Pharmacy Alumni Association Council. Additionally, he has served on the Board of Directors of the Southwestern Pharmacy Alumni Foundation for more than 30 years. In his honor there is a scholarship that was established at the Pharmacy Foundation, H.F. Timmons Scholarship. There is a Timmons Endowment with the SWOSU Foundation that is to supplement research, scholarly activity and other efforts for the College of Pharmacy.

Homer is survived by cousins, Jerry Timmons of Norman, Oklahoma and John Long of Atlanta, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents.
