Hilda Gwendolyn Stalinger was born in Emrick, North Dakota, on March 31, 1949, to Fred and Erma (Kroll) Stalinger. She passed away in her home southwest of Thomas on Friday, December 16, 2022 at the age of 73 years, 8 months and 16 days.
Hilda attended school in Fessenden, North Dakota, graduating in 1967. She attended Minot State in Minot, North Dakota, for one year and completed her elementary education degree at Mid-America Nazarene University in Olathe, Kansas, in 1971, one of the first graduating class of the college. She taught third and fourth grade for a time in Forbes, North Dakota, and then third grade in Regent, North Dakota, for several years. She met David Eyster while he was in the Regent area with a harvest crew. They married in Regent, North Dakota, on May 6, 1977. They made their home southwest of Thomas, Oklahoma. She assisted in the kindergarten class of the Thomas Public School for a while and then took on the role of farm wife. Hilda loved Jesus and she enjoyed teaching children about him.
Hilda is survived by her husband, David, of the home, son Eric and wife Kristi, grandchildren, Evan, Easton, and Karis, sisters, Caroline and Bill White of Hopewell, Virginia, Gladys and Rick Williamson of Sellersburg, Indiana, Jo Stalinger of Minot, North Dakota, brother Robert and Judy Stalinger of Clarendon Hills, Illinois, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Erma Stalinger, one sister, Helen, and two brothers, Fred Jr. and Jimmy.
Memorials may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
