Obituary

On Monday October 24, 2022 Helen Lavon Snay of Thomas, Oklahoma passed away peacefully in her home at the age of 82.

She was born Helen Lavon Morain to Evelyn Ruth Claxton Morain and Clyde Morain on April 26 th , 1940 in Mullinville, Kansas. She was raised in Keyes, Oklahoma, and graduated from Keyes High School. She attended college in Boise City, Oklahoma, and there she met the love of her life, Dwight Ray Snay. They were married on October 9, 1959, and moved to Ardmore, Ok. Over the next several years, they moved to Arizona and then back to Oklahoma, welcoming their four children along the way. They settled in Thomas, Oklahoma in 1973.

Helen was a stay-at-home mother until all her children had entered school. In 1976 she began her career as a bank teller in Thomas. She later went on to work in Weatherford and Custer, and eventually came back to the First National Bank of Thomas, where she retired in 2005.  She loved helping her customers and very much enjoyed her daily interactions with them. Helen was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Thomas, teaching Sunday School, vacation bible school, and sponsoring youth camp at Falls Creek.  She loved helping people in need and sharing her testimony with anyone who had an ear to hear.  She loved her children and adored her grandchildren, spending countless hours caring for them, playing with them, and enjoying them with all her heart.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband Dwight Snay, sons Thomas Ray and Dustin Lee Snay, parents Evelyn and Clyde Morain, brothers Eldon and Olen Morain, and sisters Joan Charles and Ivy Maltbe.  She is survived by one sister, Devona Johnson; two brothers, Alfred Morain and Ronald Morain; one daughter, Brenda Snay Matthew and husband Dave Matthew of Mansfield, TX; one son, Alan Snay and wife Melody Snay of Thomas, OK; ten grandchildren, Katrina, Cole, Miranda and husband Nickolas, Lauryn, Tristen, Garrett, Selena, Victoria, Sara, and Emily; one great grandson, Hendrix; one great granddaughter, Karsyn, and many extended family and friends.
