Helen Marie Metheny was born December 24, 1928, in Bridgeport to Frank and Velma Beatrice (Manley) Leedom and passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at Maple Lawn Manor in Hydro, at the age of 94 years, 1 month and 21 days.

Helen was raised south of Bridgeport on the Leedom homestead and attended Riverside Rural school in Bridgeport, Hydro and graduated from Hinton High School in 1946.  On July 4, 1947, she married Alton Wayne Metheny in El Reno and made their home in Geary.  Wayne then taught and coached in many school districts and Helen served as secretary for the schools before they settled in Hydro. Helen enjoyed cross stitching, working crossword puzzles, reading, attending dances, growing flowers and spending time with family and friends.  Memorials may be made to the Graceland Cemetery Fund, 19501 N. Helen is survived by two sons, Gary Metheny and wife, Kathy of Hinton and Mike Metheny and wife, Beverly of Hydro; one daughter, Nanette Owens and husband, Chuck of Hydro; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Pete; and one sister, Mae.
