Obituary

Funeral: 2:00 PM Saturday, July 5th, 2014Colony Baptist Church

Funeral services for Gwendola Maxine Barnes, 89 year-old Corn, Oklahoma resident, will be held Saturday, July 5, 2014, 2:00 P.M. in Colony Baptist Church with Ken Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in High Point Cemetery under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.

Gwendola was born October 11, 1924, in Colony, Oklahoma to Elbert and Elizabeth (Schwartz) Dunn and passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2014, in Corn Heritage Village in Corn, Oklahoma. Gwendola was raised and attended school in the Colony area where she attended grade school through high school. On March 9, 1946, married J.D. Barnes in Colony, Oklahoma and made their home north of Colony. To this union two daughters were born, Sharon Waldrup and Pamela Page. Gwendola worked alongside of her husband on the family farm. She and J.D. pastured a church in Ft. Cobb for a number of years. Gwendola enjoyed singing at church, crocheting, embroidering, working in her gardens, and spending time with family and friends.

Gwendola is survived by her two daughters, Sharon Waldrup and husband, Larry of Colony, Oklahoma and Pamela Page of Weatherford, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Sheila Scott and husband, L.T. of El Reno, Oklahoma and Darren Strege and wife, Robin of Canton, Texas; five great-grandchildren, Ashley, Erin, and Addison Scott, Aivia and Eden Strege; and numerous family and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; eight sisters; and four brothers.
