Grace Genevra
Luekenga
December 23, 2016
Funeral services for Grace Genevra Luekenga, 86 year-old Colony, Oklahoma resident, will be held Monday, December 26, 2016, at 10:00 AM in the Colony Church of Christ. Burial will follow in Bethany Cemetery under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.
Grace Genevra (Richmond) Luekenga was born in Burns Flat, OK on September 9, 1930 to H.W. and Marjorie Midge (Hawkins) Richmond. She passed away Friday, December 23, 2016 at Corn Heritage Village in Corn, OK.
Grace moved to Colony at the age of three and was raised in the Colony area. She attended school in Colony. She had fond memories of mixing and baking cakes with her mother and Grandmother Grace. She also liked to reminisce about riding into town with her Daddy in a horse drawn wagon, and later in a Model A Ford.
Grace married her sweetheart, Loy Luekenga in Dill City, OK, March 7, 1948. Their very special, life-long friends, Leland and Mary Lee Crissman were the Best Man and Matron of Honor at their wedding. Grace and Loy made their home northeast of Colony for many years before moving to town in 1972. Grace was baptized and was a life-long member of the Colony Church of Christ.
Grace continued her mother and grandmothers legacy and love of baking into a catering business. She catered and baked birthday, wedding and anniversary cakes for 34 years. One of her greatest joys was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. One of the grandchildrens most precious memories is lining up to get icing on each finger as MeMaw was icing cakes. Grace loved the holidays, and looked forward to spending time with family and friends. She also loved to throw parties, and everyone was welcome! Grace will also be remembered for being a very giving person. It didnt matter what she had going on, she would prepare food to take to those who were sick or had lost loved ones.
Grace is survived by her husband of 68 years, Loy Luekenga of Colony, OK; two daughters, Sandra Dickerson and her husband, Danny of Fort Smith, AR and Karen Epperly and her husband, Raymond of Colony, OK; four grandchildren, Angie Dickerson of Edmond, OK, Kristi Gabriel of Edmond, OK, Amber Lawles and her husband, Jason Lawles of Weatherford, OK, and Brad Epperly of Orange, CA; great-grandchildren, Bayli, Bentli and Blayke Lawles, Gavin and Grant Gabriel; special nephew, Mark Richmond of Austin, TX and his children, Atticus, Gemma and Beckham Richmond all of Austin, TX; and one brother, Lloyd Richmond and his wife, Eva Dean of Las Vegas, NV. She was preceded in death by her parents, H.W. and Marjorie Richmond and one brother, Jerry Richmond.
