Glenn Allison Dickey Sr. was born March 5, 1927 in Clinton, Oklahoma, to J.O. Dickey, Sr. and Vera Grace (Middleton) Dickey and passed away Thursday, April 23, 2015 at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Glenn was raised south of Weatherford and attended Weatherford Public Schools where he graduated in 1945. On January 30, 1946, he married Melva Louise Pitzer in Wheeler, Texas and they made their home northwest of Weatherford. Glenn enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served from 1946 to 1948. He attended A & M College in Stillwater, Oklahoma for two years. They returned to Weatherford where he farmed and ranched. Glenn loved soil and water conservation work and served as a District Director on the Deer Creek Conservation District Board for 30 years. His passion was in using his tractor and carryall to build diversion terraces, correct water flow to conserve the water and soil. He also cleaned up several old farmsteads and put that land back to agriculture. He loved to take something and make it better. Glenn was a highly respected citizen and member of the farming community. He was a man of his word.Glenn served as a Deacon at the First Baptist Church in Weatherford. He also served as a Director for the First National Bank in Thomas, Oklahoma and Southwest National Bank in Weatherford, Oklahoma since 1974.

Glenn is survived by his wife of 69 years, Melva of their home in Weatherford, Oklahoma; two sons, Glenn Allison Dickey, Jr. of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Dwight A. Dickey and wife, Mary of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one daughter, Janet Digmon and husband, Larry of Sacramento, California; two brothers, David Dickey and his wife Norvelle of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Jack Dickey and his wife Katherine of Weatherford, Oklahoma; one sister, Betty Lamirand of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Neoma (Ruddell) Dickey; two brothers, J.O. Dickey, Jr. and Donald Dickey; and one daughter-in-law, Marilyn Dickey.
