George was born January 25, 1946, in Weatherford, OK to George and Evelyn (Poteet) Fast and passed away Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at the VA Hospital in Oklahoma City, at the age of 75 years, 7 months and 12 days.
George attended Weatherford High School and graduated in 1964. He attended Central State University graduating in 1969 with a B.S. Degree in Management and Marketing. George earned a Master's Degree in Aerospace Management from SEOSU in 2006. He was an avid pilot and longtime member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, earning his 50-year pin just a few weeks ago. George served for four years in the Air Force as a Staff Sergeant, serving at Warner Robbins AFB, in Warner Robbins, Georgia. He and his family returned to Weatherford in 1971. George took over management of the family business, Southwestern Lanes in 1974. During the years he managed the bowling alley, he developed, edited, and produced a statewide bowling newspaper, The Oklahoma Bowler. In 1989, having moved to Midwest City, OK, George was the tournament director for the U.S. Open Bowling Tournament. He developed a marketing program on increasing business and revenue, and traveled across the country presenting the program to bowling centers. In later years, George was a capital equipment salesman for several national bowling equipment companies. He actively served as part of the Wickline United Methodist Church congregation for 20 years.
George is survived by his loving wife, of 52 years, Elaine; daughter, Ambra; and was preceded in death by his son, Travis. He leaves behind seven wonderful grandchildren, Aaron and his wife Brittenai, Alex, Alyssa, Ayden, and Ayson Thelin, and Sara and Jacob Fast. His family plans to live out his legacy with morning coffees, doughnuts, and barbecues.
