Obituary

Gary Norton Webb was born May 4, 1931, in Spokane, Washington to Carol and Gladys (Norton) Webb and passed away Saturday, October 19, 2019, at Heritage at Brandon Place in Oklahoma City having reached the age of 88 years, 5 months, and 15 days.

Gary graduated from Cheney High School. He lost his father from cancer when he was 13-years old and lived with his grandparents. Gary received a degree in Business Administration from Washington State University in 1953. While in college, he was active in ROTC and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Air Force. He served as a Photo-Radar Intelligence Officer and after completing this service, he went back to college at the University of Washington on the GI Bill and received a Bachelor's degree in Geology. He worked as a geologist for three years at the Nevada Atomic Test Sight just 80 miles north of Las Vegas. In January of 1966, Gary became a Soils-Material Testing Engineer for the Naval Civil Engineer Corp in Vietnam. He monitored quality control for the three American Construction Companies for the Army, Air Force, and Navy facilities in Vietnam. During his nine years in Vietnam, he was in charge of six different Material Testing Laboratories from Danang in the north Vietnam to Can Tho in the south. Gary, Anh (his wife), and Judy (daughter) left Vietnam three days before the fall of Saigon in 1975. Gary moved to Oklahoma where he owned Springer Mud Logging for over twenty years then he retired. During retirement, Gary and Anh owned and ran Starvin Marvin Pizza until 1998. Gary was an avid sports enthusiast and was a thirty plus years University of Oklahoma booster and season football ticket member. He enjoyed attending all his children's sporting events from football, basketball, and baseball.

Gary is survived by his four children, Judy Webb-Hapgood and her husband, Michael of Edmond, Bradley Webb of Oklahoma City, Brent Webb and his wife, Kylie of Yukon, and Brian Webb of Oklahoma City; and five grandchildren Lauren Hapgood, Katie Hapgood, Taylor Hapgood, Sam Webb, and Ella Webb. He was preceded in death by his parents.
