Johnie Galen "Shep" Shepherd was born to Dale E. and Dorcas A. (Wiseman) Shepherd on November 29, 1940 in Marysville, CA and passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at the Cordell Christian Home in Cordell, OK.
Galen was raised in Custer City where he attended school, graduating 1959. He attended college for 2 years. He married Phyllis Zerby on August 27, 1960 and they made their home in Oklahoma City. Galen worked building homes in the Yukon area. They moved to Custer City in 1975 where he continued building homes in Western OK. He worked for Sawatzky Construction and later QSP – Readers Digest as a salesman before retiring in 2000. He lovingly cared for his wife, Phyllis, up until her untimely passing in 2005. It was then that God brought Galen and Gail together. Galen married Gail Veach Klepczyk on December 1, 2006 in Weatherford, OK. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, spending time with family and his grandkids and serving the Lord. Galen was a deacon in both the Church of the Nazarene in Custer City and Bethany Brethren Church in Christ in Thomas.
He is survived by his wife, Gail of the home in Weatherford, OK; 1 son, Rocky Shepherd and his wife, Lori of Weatherford, OK; 1 daughter, Pam Coston and her husband, Michael of Custer City, OK; 1 step-son, Brian Klepczyk and his wife, Prissi of Claremore, OK; 2 step-daughters, Nicky Klepczyk of Weatherford, OK and Kathy Gregory and her husband, Kenny of Weatherford, OK; 1 sister Verlane Zerby and her husband, John of Custer City, OK; 11 grandchildren Brady Hicks, Chelsey Pitts and husband, Rowdy; Amber Fredendall and her husband, Derrick; Ashley Coston, Kaylin Lee and husband, Dennis; Noah, Elijah, and Aidan Klepczyk, Aubrey Klepczyk-Cole, Hannah and Jaken Gregory; 5 great-grandchildren Jax and Jagger Pitts, Benjamin, Emrys, and Elizabeth Fredendall. He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Phyllis; 1 brother, Dale; 1 sister, Sheila Mae.
