Fred Walton Hale was born November 27, 1922, in Sickles, Oklahoma to Union and Cora (Atkins) Hale and passed away Saturday, June 21, 2014, at Weatherford Regional Hospital in Weatherford, Oklahoma, at the age of 91 years, 6 months, and 24 days.
Fred spent his childhood in Sickles until moving to Lubbock, Texas when he was 21 to work in a steel mill. He moved back south of Weatherford in 1950 to raise wheat, cotton, and peanuts and to raise cattle. He began his 63 year long marriage to Norma Smith in 1951 in the home of Woodrow and Pauline Goins. They attended Pleasant View Baptist Church until 1963 when they became members of Colony Baptist Church. Fred enjoyed taking care of his cattle, farming, bank fishing and spending time with the family he loved.
Fred is survived by his wife, Norma Hale of Weatherford, Oklahoma; two sons, Phil Hale and Brenda of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Freddy Hale and Donna of Weatherford, Oklahoma; one daughter, Frieda Hale of Weatherford, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren, Amber Hallum, Scotty Hale, Missy Townsend, Lindsey Doering, April Gaddis, Desiree Coker, Trey Everett Cody Thomason, Lacy Stroud, and Bailey Thomason; and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Union and Cora Hale; two brothers, Phillip and Raymond; and two sisters, Bessie and Thelma.
