Obituary

Funeral: 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 24th, 2015Pleasant Valley Baptist Church

Funeral services for Evert Lee Smith, 83 year-old Weatherford, Oklahoma resident, will be held Tuesday, February 24, 2015, 2:00 P.M. at the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church with Terry Flansburg officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.

Evert was born July 20, 1931 in Sickles, Oklahoma to Elsie May (White) Smith and Thomas Evert Smith and passed away on Friday, February 20, 2015 in his home. At the age of three years he moved with his family to Lake Village, Arkansas where they raised cotton and worked in the logging business. At the age of twenty years he moved back to Oklahoma where he made his home in Hydro, Oklahoma and later in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Evert worked hard all his life at several different jobs. Evert moved to Weatherford in 1981 and worked for the City of Weatherford for 11 years and retired in 1994. He worked doing lawn work for a while and then went to work for BOP Ram in Weatherford where he worked until one month ago. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, hunting, motorcycling, traveling, and bowling.

Evert is survived by his wife, Nedra Lynn Smith of the home; one son, Jackie Lee Smith of Oklahoma City, OK; six daughters, Patsy Ann Ash and her husband, Lindsay of Edmond, Oklahoma, Linda Joyce Drummond and husband, Richard of Lone Grove, Oklahoma, Kathy Jean Simpson and husband, Jimmy of Guthrie, Oklahoma, Nora Gayle Smith of Ardmore, Oklahoma, two stepdaughters, Debbie Jones and husband, Wesley of Sapulpa, Oklahoma and Bobbie Tudor of Colony, Oklahoma, three sisters; Nettie Barringer and husband, Orvil of Hydro, Oklahoma, Bettie Smith of Hydro, Oklahoma, and Hazel Byrum of Hydro, Oklahoma, and fourteen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Elsie Smith and two brothers, Thomas Evert Smith and William Lonnie Smith.
