Evelyn Mary Wood was born August 11,1942, in Berkeley, California, to Clarence Henry and Evelyn Mary (Symmons) Henry. She entered her heavenly home on Friday, October 3, 2025, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 83 years.

Eveyln spent her early years in Berkeley, California before moving to the Rio Grand Valley in South Texas at the age of 10, with her family. She graduated from McAllen High School with the class of 1961. Evelyn married Mike Wilsher in 1961, who was posthumously promoted to the rank of Captain in the Army and was stationed in various locations, including Germany, Texas, Alabama and Virginia. During their marriage, they had three children: Michael Owen, Kevin, and Meishel. Mike Wilsher passed away in 1971 while serving in Vietnam.

Evelyn remarried in 1972, and welcomed her youngest child, Cindy in 1973.  She was the matriarch of all of her blended families.  Her door and her heart were always open. She frequently hosted family gatherings and celebrations. In 1982, on April 10th, She married life long friend Richard Wood.  They settled in Weatherford, Oklahoma after Richard was transferred.  They enjoyed a loving marriage for 38 years until his passing in 2020.

Evelyn was a faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Weatherford, participating in various ministries, including the Senior Ministry, Children's Ministry, Women's Ministry as well as a variety of others. However, her favorite was teaching in the Children's Ministry.

She will be remembered for her joyous laughter that could often be heard while she enjoyed some of her favorite activities like: crafting, cooking, and playing cards.

Evelyn is survived by her sons; Michael Wilsher and wife, Tabitha, and Kevin Wilsher; her daughters: Meishel Fry and husband, Terrell, and Cynthia Davis; Grandchildren; Micah Poage and husband, Kody, Jessyca Lance and husband, Caleb, Jarod Davis, Allison Wilsher, Paige Dickens and husband, Michael, Kymberlee Adams and husband, Clint, Aric Davis and wife, Desni, Madison Wilsher, Abbagail Key and husband, Kaleb, and Jenna Wilsher; eight great grandchildren and one on the way.

She is preceded in death by her parents, spouse Richard Wood, first husband Joseph Michael Wilsher, sisters, Ruby Guynn and Martha Anderson, one brother Chuck Henry, and her in-laws, J.N. & Mary Etta Wilsher.
