Erma Lea Schmidt was born on July 27, 1932, in Altus, Oklahoma to Elmer and Cora Kastner and passed away on Friday, April 27, 2018, at Brookdale Living Center in Weatherford, at the age of 85 years and 9 months.

Erma was raised and attended school in Altus, graduating high school in 1951. She moved to Davidson, Shawnee, and settled in Hydro in 1971. She married LeRoy Schmidt and made their home in Hydro. Erma enjoyed cooking, RVing, traveling, reading, and drawing. Erma was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Weatherford. Erma was survived by one son, David Wing and wife, Heather of Jenks, Oklahoma; three daughters, Nancy Crissman and husband, Earl of Weatherford, Oklahoma, Leslie Hopper and husband, Jimmy of Ardmore, Oklahoma, and step-daughter, Patricia Barber and husband, Preston of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; three brothers, Floyd Kastner and wife, Jan of Altus, Oklahoma, Deryl Kastner and wife, Betty of Noble, Oklahoma, and Jimmy Kastner of Chicago, Illinois; three sisters, Helen Herman and husband, Robert of Yukon, Oklahoma, Rita Shelby of Hollis, Oklahoma, Joyce Secrest and husband, Dave of Altus, Oklahoma; eleven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Robert Michael; step-daughter, Brenda Smith; and brother, A.J.
