Obituary

Funeral: 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 30th, 2014First Christian Church

Funeral services for Emma Ollie Mae Phillips, 86 year-old Hydro, OK resident, will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at 2:00 PM at First Christian Church in Hydro with Pastor Rick Dyson officiating. Burial will follow in Geary Cemetery under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.

Emma was born on November 18, 1927 in Mountain View, Oklahoma to Thomas and Ollie (Dixon) Choate and passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2014 at Weatherford Regional Hospital. She was raised and attended rural school in the Calumet area. On October 9, 1946 she married Richard Phillips in Wichita, Kansas and they made their home southwest of Geary until 1957 when they moved to Hydro. She worked at Owl Photo in Weatherford and later for 3M doing film processing. She enjoyed taking care of children, quilting, and crocheting. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church of Hydro or Hydro First Responders.

Emma is survived by two daughters, Betty Eakins of Hydro, OK, and Leona Lee and her husband Jimmy of Raytown, MO; four brothers, Billy Choate of Calumet, OK, Dean Choate and his wife Judy of Eufaula, OK, Wayne Choate and his wife Cathie of Yukon, OK, and Freeman Choate and his wife Brenda of Bakersfield, CA; two sisters, Viola Russell of Oklahoma City, OK and Sylvia Stubblefield of Houston, TX; seven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and many special grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Billy Phillips; five brothers, Charles, Haskell, Howard, Leon, and John; and one sister, Mildred.
