Emily Elizabeth "Betty" (Heger) Tompkins was born on September 7, 1936 to Lawrence Heger and Bertha (Kappus ) Heger in Hydro, Oklahoma and passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2018 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 81 years, 3 months, and 28 days.

Betty was raised south of Hydro and attended school in Hydro, graduating with the class of 1954. Betty attended the Draughon School of Business for two years. On April 30, 1955 she married Donald "Monk" Tompkins in Hydro, OK. They lived in Rome, New York for one year before returning to Oklahoma to make their home in Weatherford and raise their family. She operated an at home child day care before working at Stroud Insurance and West Oak Commodities. Betty raised Boston Terriers puppies for many years. Betty enjoyed spending time with her family, equine therapy, crossword puzzles, work, and watching birds. Her great joy was serving her Lord. She loved and cherished her children, grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren.

Betty is survived by one son, Steve Tompkins and wife, Bobbie Kay, of Foss, OK; two daughters, LaDonna Wildman and husband, Craig, of Custer City, OK and Lisa Tompkins of Oklahoma City, OK; one brother, Jim Heger and wife, Laveta, of Hydro, OK; five grandchildren, Shelby McKinnon and wife, Jody, of Weatherford, OK, Cassey Cockrell and husband, Lance, of Weatherford, OK, Lacie Tompkins and Brock Downs of Foss, OK, Stevie Kaye Tompkins, of Foss, OK, and Brian Tompkins and wife, Stephanie, of Canute, OK; eleven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Joe, Bob, Ed and Don; and two sisters, Marjorie and Patricia.
