Graveside services for Elsie M. Hughes Lang, 81 year-old former Weatherford, Oklahoma resident, will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Greenwood Cemetery with Rev. Rick Connelly officiating under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home. Visitation will follow at the Federated Church in Weatherford.

Elsie was born north of Butler, OK, June 15, 1932, to David Owen and Beulah Hughes and passed away Saturday, August 17, 2013 at St. Lukes Hospital in The Woodlands, Texas.

Elsie attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University, attaining her Bachelors and Masters of Education degrees. After teaching in several western Oklahoma communities, she started teaching at SWOSU in 1971 and taught English there until her retirement in 1985.

Elsie and R. Park Lang were married July 2, 1974, and celebrated 39 years of marriage this year. When Park retired in 1997 as SWOSUs Art Department Chairman, they moved to Montgomery, Texas.

Elsie is survived by her husband Park; daughter and son-in-law Kathy and Gene Meier of Weatherford, OK; and daughter and son-in-law Susan and Gerald Nickel of Seminole, OK. Other survivors are grandchildren JD and Kalli Strong of Oklahoma City; Kristy and Derek VanDorn of Edmond; Cole and Sarah Huckleberry of Oklahoma City; Reed Huckleberry of Shawnee, OK; Krystal and Jeff Moses of Weatherford, OK; and Justin Meier of Parker, CO. She is also survived by great grandchildren Edyn, Cassidy, Kamdyn, Kate, Abbie, Hayley, Jackson, and Cooper. She was preceded in death by her parents David and Beulah; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law Vernon and MJ Lang.
