Elmer Leroy
Pitt
March 15, 1938 – November 28, 2025
Elmer "Leroy" Pitt was born March 15, 1938, on the farm NW of Alfalfa to Henry David Pitt and Floy Roselle Bennett Pitt and passed away at the Integris Hospice House in OKC on Friday, November 28, 2025, at the age of 87. His family moved southeast of Hydro in 1941 when Leroy was 3 years old. He attended Mound Valley School (a one room schoolhouse) for 8 years. He then attended Hinton High School graduating in 1956.
He served in the US Army 2 years (1962-64). After discharge from the service, he worked 12 and half years for Caddo County District #1 and farmed.
On November 23, 1970, he married Betty Rhoads. Leroy and Betty established their home in Weatherford as he continued to farm wheat, peanuts and cotton southeast of Hydro. To this union, two daughters were born: Linda and Sandra.
Leroy loved hunting coyotes with greyhound dogs and even one time by flying his small engine airplane. (Many know of his infamous crash where he and his brother-in-law were fortunate to have not been harmed.) During its heyday, he loved to attend the local music jamboree. He also enjoyed attending local sporting events (especially soccer and basketball) from watching all the area high school teams to SWOSU ballgames. He was very happy he was able to watch so many of his granddaughters' soccer games including a game where they played each other.
He was a member of the Great Plains YMCA for many years—part of the faithful 5am walking group that enjoyed hanging out after their workout visiting while having coffee (although he didn't partake in the coffee part only the donuts). He was also a proud supporter of Wounded Warriors.
Leroy and Betty attended Zion Church. After the girls' mother's passing, he remarried twice, lastly to Betty Sewell Rhodes in October of 2006.
He later attended Calvary Baptist Church and then more recently First Baptist Church in Weatherford before he moved to assisted living in Yukon to be closer to his daughters. There, he lived the last year and a half of his life and still enjoyed gardening and going to watch his granddaughters' do their sports.
Leroy is survived by daughters Linda Brinkley and husband Von of Yukon, OK and Sandra Duff and husband Chris of Nowata, OK and granddaughters Ashley and Emily Brinkley and Sage and Avery Duff. He is also survived by two sisters: Dorothy Jean Folsom of Weatherford and Mary Lou Scouten of OKC along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He is proceeded in death by his wives Betty Rhoads Pitt (the girls' mother), second wife Jean Martin Pitt, and Betty Sewell Rhodes Pitt. He is proceeded in death by his parents Henry and Floy Pitt and two brothers Floyd Dean and H.D. Pitt.
The family would like to thank the staff of Victorian Estates Assisted Living Facility of Yukon for his loving care in the past year and a half as well as the staff at Integris Hospice House for their compassion and family support in his final days.
