Obituary

Edna Mae Willis was born October 23, 1928 in Kansas City, Missouri to Thomas Edward and Alice (Snow) Spohn and went home to her Lord on Friday, July 20, 2018, at Corn Heritage Village in Weatherford, at the age of 89 years, 8 months, and 28 days.

Edna Mae spent all her childhood years in Hydro, completing all 12 years of schooling in Hydro schools. On November 12, 1948, Edna Mae married Thomas Russell Willis in Carnegie, Oklahoma. One child was born to this marriage, Thomas Leslie in 1951.

In 1959, after Russell's untimely death at the age of 34 years and having a small son to raise, Edna Mae moved to Weatherford and started college. She received a B.S. in Education in January 1963 and a Master's of Teaching degree in 1966. After graduating from college she taught 3 rd grade for 2 years in Burns Flat, Oklahoma and 28 years in Weatherford, Oklahoma, and she said she never made it out of the 3 rd grade. She was a great teacher and had a influence on many young lives with her teaching and the morals and respect she instilled in her students.

She loved her Lord and her family. She many times shared her faith in her Lord with her students. She became a member of First Baptist Church in Weatherford by baptism in March of 1978. She loved her church and church family though in the last few years she wasn't able to attend church but listened on her radio. She shared her singing talents by singing in the church choir and singing solos in church when she could.

Her family was her life delight and out of her one son, Tom, she has a family of over 30 people – grandsons, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Edna Mae is survived by her son, Tom (Debbie) Willis; four grandsons, Tommy (Tonjia) Willis, Eric (Betty) Willis, Ryan (Cassady) Willis, and Jeff (Carissa) Willis; thirteen great-grandchildren, Jessica (Ryan) Clark, Jorge (Heather) Willis, Taylor (Quentin) Shelton, Shaw Willis, London (Tanner) Deatherage, Trinity Willis, Sydney Horsman, Creed Willis, Jackson Willis, Henley Willis, August Willis, Rory Willis and Lincoln Willis; four great-great-grandchildren, Mariana, Auden, Teddy, and Adley; a sister-in-law, Esther Stallings; and a niece, Pam (Tony) Ward. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Alice Spohn; her beloved, Russell Willis; a half-sister, Viola Jane Brown; a great-granddaughter, Hudsyn Willis; and a brother-in-law, Robert Stallings.
