Edith
Entz
June 15, 1931 – September 3, 2025
Helen Edith (Pierce) Entz was born as the youngest of three children on the family farm, southeast of Hydro, to Merrion Elbert and Lillie (Epton) Pierce, on June 15, 1931, and went to her heavenly home to be in the presence of her Savior Jesus Christ on September 3, 2025, at the age of 94 years.
At the age of 12, Edith accepted Jesus as her Savior and Lord. Edith attended Mound Valley School through 8th grade and then graduated high school from Hinton Public School in 1949.
Her husband to be, Harold Entz, bought her "box dinner" at the auction and later they were married on August 17, 1948, at the First Baptist Church in Hinton, Oklahoma. They first lived southeast of Hydro and were members of Bethel Mennonite Church where they faithfully attended and served.
Their firstborn were twins, which was quite a surprise. Barbara Sue and William Richard (Bill) were then followed by three other children, Roger Douglas, Beverly Ann and Steven Paul. They lived on the family farm where Edith cared well for her family. Her selfless sacrifice showed in the many gardens and chickens that she raised and prepared for her family to enjoy, by taking countless meals to the field, and driving wheat truck as needed. Hoeing cotton and moving hand-move irrigation pipe were done dutifully but are among the things she would readily say of, "I never want to do that again!" As her famiy grew, she spent more time making wedding and special occasion cakes for many of the community. She enjoyed quilting with the Women's Mission Organization and held many other offices like Sunday School teacher at Bethel Mennonite Church.
After the death of her husband in 2002, she renewed many old friendships and became a member of First Baptist Church of Hydro. These were times when she enjoyed trips and took others to area plays and out to eat. She was concerned about helping others deal with grief, and spent time with others in similar situations that she had previously experienced.
Edith is survived by her children: Barbara McLaughlin; Bill Entz and wife, Karen; Roger Entz and wife, Edith; Beverly Glasscock; and Steve Entz and wife, Laura; grandchildren: Sandra Whaley and husband, Clay; Regene Kennedy and husband, Todd; Darla Doyals and husband, Todd; Charlotte Wills and husband, Ty; Marcia Sauer and husband, Jason; Trisha Chisum and husband, Lance; Carrie Entz; Allen Entz and wife, Jackie; Andy Glasscock and wife, Korrin; Kristi Brizuela; Julie Karlin and husband, Trey; and Lisa Kilhoffer and husband, Toby; twenty-five great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Roy Entz. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lillie Walker; husband, Harold; brother, Nelson Pierce; sister, Ela Lane; and two grandsons, Michael Shawn Entz and Gary Lynn Entz.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hydro First Responders.
