Edelia Heck was born February 7, 1942, in Cameron County, Texas to Julian and Santiaga (Patlan) Rodriguez, the 8 th of 15 children, and passed away Monday, February 1, 2021, at her home south of Weatherford, at the age of 78 years, 11 months and 16 days.
Edelia's parents were migratory workers and her youth was spent moving wherever work was available and lived anywhere between South Texas and Minnesota. Edelia acted the cook and housekeeper of the family. When she was 16 years old, she caught the attention of a 13-year-old boy, David Heck, while working in Oklahoma and they would later marry. Her family settled in Gilroy, California in 1965. After completing high school and serving in the military, David moved to Gilroy, California and on April 15, 1967, she married David Albin Heck.
David and Edelia lived for 29 years in Central California before returning to Oklahoma in 1996 and purchasing his parents farm in Northeast Washita County.
Edelia is survived by her husband of 53 years, David Heck of their home in Weatherford; three sons, Lee (Deborah) Heck of Weatherford, Gabriel (Louis) Heck of Granite and Michael Heck of Weatherford; four brothers, Julian (Gerry) Rodriguez, John (Soledad) Rodriguez, Jose (Lourdes) Rodriguez, and Cecilic (Lupe) Rodriguez; three sisters, Mary (Everstio) Reyes, Alice (Albert) Razo and Nina (Ken) Ridenour; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and seven siblings, Frances Garcia, Jesse Rodriguez, Lupe Contreras, Tony Rodriguez, Carmen Perez, Elena Brooks, and Daniel Rodriguez.
