Eddie Allen
Royalty
October 24, 1943 – December 7, 2020
Eddie Allen Royalty was born to Carl and Bertha (Sinclair) Royalty on October 24, 1943 on the family farm near Fay, Oklahoma. He attended school at Eagle City from first grade to third grade, and attended fourth grade through the first half of eighth grade at Fay. The family then moved from the farm to Thomas and Eddie graduated from Thomas High School in 1961. Eddie loved sports. He played on the 1957 state championship football team. Eddie's senior year he was one of the captains of the football team. He was All District and All Area in 1960. Eddie also played basketball and ran track for the Thomas Terriers and was active in the FFA Program.
Eddie met Dorothy Roberts at the Thomas Skating Rink in 1961. Eddie and Dorothy were married on August 21, 1962 and were married 58 years. To this union were born three children, Robbie, Kevin and Juli. Eddie graduated from SWOSU in 1967 with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and completed his Masters in Physical Education and an Administrative Degree. His first teaching and coaching job was in Kimball, Nebraska. Two years later he took his first head football coaching job in Johnson, Kansas. Eddie turned that football program into a High Plains League football power. He was also a volunteer certified EMT for the Johnson community. From there, Eddie moved his family to Seiling, Oklahoma where he was the head football coach and the elementary principal. Three years later he accepted the head football coaching job at Beaver, Oklahoma. Throughout his coaching career, Eddie brought the Fellowship of Christian Athletes program into the schools. Over his career, he taught Science, Literature, Psychology and Reading.
He retired from coaching in 1982, and continued in administration for 16 more years as the elementary principal at Hydro Public Schools. He also was an adjunct professor at SWOSU teaching administrative courses. After he and Dorothy retired from teaching at Hydro they moved back to the family farm near Fay. Eddie left a positive impact on the lives of his students and anyone that came in contact with him.
Eddie was a 50-year member of the Thomas Masonic Lodge and most recently served as the Worshipful Master of Thomas Lodge 265. Eddie and Dorothy were members of the First United Methodist Church of Thomas where Eddie served on many committees. He was President of the Methodist Men and taught Sunday School.
He was the proud Grandpa of Kaila, Keefer and Nathan. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his grandchildren and enjoyed attending all of their activities.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Kevin, his brothers, Virgil and Floyd and sisters, Betty and Stella. He is survived by his wife Dorothy of Fay, son Robbie and wife Stacy of Thomas, Oklahoma, daughter Juli and husband Steve Balman of Tulsa, Oklahoma, his three grandchildren, Kaila Kinder and her husband Jake of Carnegie, Oklahoma, Keefer Royalty and his wife Whitney of Weatherford, Oklahoma, Nathan Duvall of Tulsa, Oklahoma, sisters-in-law Linda Hiatt of Rush Springs, Oklahoma, Letha Moore and her husband Warren of Enid, Oklahoma, as well as many other nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Memorials may be made to the Thomas Masonic Lodge # 265.
