Obituary

Dwaine Dale Goldsberry was born on April 26, 1928, to Frederick Eli and Edna Grace (Goodman) Goldsberry in Covington, OK and passed away Thursday, August 26, 2021, at home in Weatherford, at the age of 93 years. The family of nine lived on a farm just outside of Hayward, OK.

Dwaine attended Stanton Country School and later graduated from Hayward High School. At the age of 16, he hopped the train to Wichita to go to work for Boeing Aircraft Company for the summer. After graduating high school, he joined the US Army as a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne Division. He found himself jumping out of the same planes he had helped build.

After proudly serving our country, Dwaine went to work for Charles Machine Works, Inc., the manufacturer of Ditch Witch equipment, where he led the sales and marketing department. On December 3, 1954, he married his beautiful bride, Jewel Faye (Judy) Ramsey, and they eventually made their home in Perry, OK, where they raised their three children, Eric, Dana Jo, and Jeff. In 1988, they moved to Weatherford to start their own business with Goldsberry Rentals.

Dwaine's love of travel and aviation continued when he got his pilot's license, which allowed him to travel across the country for work and for pleasure. When he wasn't in the air, it was the dirt roads that beckoned to him, and you could often find Dwaine checking on his cattle, his wheat or just checking his oil wells.

But most importantly, he loved his Savior and spending time with his family.

Dwaine is survived by two sons, Eric Goldsberry and wife, Susie of Weatherford, OK and Jeff Goldsberry and wife, Deanna of Perry, OK; one sister, Margory Scoggins of Enid, OK; nine grandchildren; and sixteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Judy; his daughter, Dana Jo; four brothers; and one sister.
