Funeral: 10:00 AM Friday, July 24th, 2015First Baptist Church

Funeral services for Doris Evelyn Vaughan, 88 year-old Weatherford resident, will be held on Friday, July 24, 2015 at 10:00 AM at First Baptist Church with Pastor Earl Stephenson officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home. A family visitation will be held at Lockstone Funeral Home on Thursday, July 23, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

Doris Evelyn (Ogle) Vaughan was born October 10, 1926 in Saline, Missouri to Oral V. and Irene (Dorland) Ogle and passed away July 19, 2015 in her home. She was the 5th of 9 children. At age 8 her mother was burned in a house fire, delivered stillborn twin boys and died a few days later. Her father transferred to Pierce City, Missouri where Doris graduated from high school in 1944. She moved to Joplin, Missouri where she met Larry Vaughan and they were married on June 23, 1945. In 1948, they had a daughter, Sharon, and in 1951 their daughter Linda was born. Larry and Doris took jobs with Strange-Jones Wholesale and moved the family to Clinton in 1955. Their son, Larry, Jr., was born in 1962. In 1965, they bought Weatherford Auto Supply and moved the family to Weatherford the next year. Larry passed away August 9, 1995 following a battle with cancer. Doris worked for a few years for a home health agency.

Doris is survived by two daughters, Sharon Hagedorn of Cedar Falls, IA, Linda Smalley-Austin and her husband Dan Austin of Weatherford, OK; one son, Larry Vaughan Jr. and his wife Louella of Weatherford, OK; one brother Joseph Gayle Ogle of Wichita, Kansas; grandchildren, Tim Godfrey and wife Karla of Cedar Falls, IA, Lisa Stephens and husband Will of Mountain View, OK, Stacey Purintun and husband Stuart of Weatherford, OK, Chris Hagedorn of Davenport, IA, Mike Hagedorn and wife Kate of Rio, IL, Matt Smalley and wife Leah of Weatherford, OK, Angie Vaughan and Richard Caudillo of Elk City, OK, Keely Norfolk of Weatherford, OK and Kristin Hise and husband Derrick of Yukon, OK; and 17 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Russell-Murray Hospice or the Backpack Supply Program for Weatherford Public Schools.
