Donna Gail Bradford was born February 10, 1927, in Sterling, Kansas to Lee and Retta (Shafer) Bonnet and passed away Monday, September 16, 2019 at home in Weatherford, Oklahoma having reached the age of 92 years, 7 months and 6 days.
Donna attended schools at Union Five rural school and Sterling where she graduated in 1944. Upon graduation, she attended the University of Kansas for one year before going to work for an airline on the east coast. When Rex Bradford, also of Sterling, returned from the Navy, they were married on June 3, 1951.
They lived in Sterling, Meade, and Lyons, Kansas and Pampa, Texas while raising their four children. Donna enjoyed working with the Scouts, 4-H, and whatever activities the children were in. As a family, they enjoyed camping, golfing, motorcycling, skiing and other sports. Donna was active in church, music, singing in choirs and playing the organ. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Weatherford and the Daughters of the Eastern Star.
In 1980, the family moved to Weatherford, Oklahoma where she was able to return to college to study music therapy at SWOSU, a subject she started at the University of Kansas. At that time, she also took up golf which she enjoyed until she was in her late eighties. She and Rex were able to enjoy traveling after he retired. Her hobbies included knitting and crocheting prayer shawls, picture taking, reading, gardening and visiting family.
She is survived by her husband, Rex Bradford of the home, a daughter, Sheri Meredith and her husband, Rod; son, Scott and his wife, Donna Kay, son, Michael, and son, Kyle and his wife, Lisa. She leaves nine grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Alberta Trostle, and one step-grandchild. Memorials may be made to the Stephenson Cancer Center in Oklahoma City or the music department at SWOSU.
