Funeral services for Donald Gene Williams, 87 year-old Eakly, Oklahoma resident, will be held Saturday, March 12, 2016, 2:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church in Eakly with Rev. Ray Weathers officiating. Burial will follow in Poage Cemetery under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home. There will be a visitation Friday evening, March 11, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Don was born August 17, 1928, in Criner, Oklahoma, to Archie and Gillie (Bledsoe) Williams and passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at Corn Heritage Village of Corn, Oklahoma. Don was raised and attended school in Alex, Oklahoma and graduated from Alex High School in 1947. He attended Cameron University in Lawton for a year where he played football. On February 17, 1950, Don married Joan Lasley and made their home in Alex for two years. He worked in the oil field industry for four years. In 1952, they moved to the Eakly area where he began farming peanuts, wheat, and ranched with his father-in-law, Frank Lasley. Don enjoyed watching sports, especially OU Sooners and Dallas Cowboys football; playing dominoes; attending his grandchildrens sports; and fixing fence on the creek when it was 100 degrees. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Eakly. Memorials may be made to Eakly Fire Department or to the First Baptist Church in Eakly.
Don is survived by his wife of 66 years, Joan Williams of their home in Eakly, Oklahoma; one son, Barney Ray Williams and wife, Paula of Chickasha, Oklahoma; one daughter, Ladonna Kay Stocking of Eakly, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Tony Setzer and wife, Tammy of Eakly, Oklahoma, Denver Stocking and wife, Laurie of Carnegie, Oklahoma, Dallas Stocking and wife, Alison of Wellington, Alabama, Wendy Williams-Albert and husband, Dustin of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Hannah Williams of Blanchard, Oklahoma; and nine great-grandchildren, Kade Setzer and wife, Ashton, Kadree Setzer, Kamden, Brylie, and Carrigan Stocking, Lily Stocking, Felix and Roman Albert, and Kaelyn Palmer. He was preceded in death by parents; three brothers, A.P., Buck and Dan; two sisters, Lois and Ann; and a grandson, Brady Stocking.
